Safety
We take safety very seriously at Mornington FGA.
Safety is the absolute priority at any clay pigeon shooting ground. Whether you are a seasoned pro or a first-timer, following these core principles ensures everyone stays safe while enjoying the sport.
Core Safety Rules
Treat every gun as if it is loaded: Never point the muzzle at anything you do not intend to shoot.
Action Open: When not at the shooting stand, guns must be carried unloaded and broken (open). For semi-automatics, the bolt must be back and a safety flag inserted.
Stay in the Cage: Only load your gun and close the action once you are inside the designated shooting stand and the muzzle is pointing downrange.
Eye and Ear Protection: Safety glasses and ear defenders are mandatory for both shooters and spectators to protect against debris and noise.
Ceasefire Protocol: If anyone yells “Stop” or the Hooter sounds you must immediately open your gun, remove any cartridges, and wait for further instruction.
